Is Kraft Parmesan Cheese Gluten Free?

Kraft Parmesan Cheese is an immensely popular product that is mainly used in pastas, salads, and chicken dishes.  Kraft has been producing their ever-popular Grated Parmesan Cheese since the 1940’s.  In the late 1990’s, they added another popular product to their line – Shredded Parmesan.

Although a number of gluten-free eaters are also dairy-free, I figured there were many people who were wondering if Kraft Parmesan Cheese is GF, so that they can enjoy it without worrying…

The Verdict

Yes, Kraft Grated and Shredded Parmesan Cheese are absolutely GLUTEN-FREE!  This doesn’t really come as a huge shock, since almost all cheese is gluten-free, but it is still nice to know.  I add Kraft Parmesan to my salads nearly every day, and it really gives it an extra kick that leafy greens don’t have by themselves.

I always just operated under the assumption that all cheese was GF, but you never know what has been added to any food item, so it is always smart to check with the manufacturer before eating something. Bleu cheese is one type of cheese that can occasionally have gluten, so be cautious with it.  If you are out in a restaurant, so ask the waiter/waitress if the item is gluten-free, and if they aren’t sure, ask the chef!
