Good ol’ St. Patty’s Day, every Irish person’s favorite holiday in America! Being part Irish myself, I have always loved it, although I think a lot of people enjoy it solely for the fact that it gives them a reason to drink the entire day.
St. Patrick’s Day in Chicago is an incredible day because every year they dye the river completely green. Thousands of spectators dressed in green gather around the river and watch as it turns from blue to green. Unfortunately, the river is only green for about 5 hours, so you don’t have much time to take it all in. There is also a parade that starts in Grant Park. And of course, every single bar in the city – Irish and non-Irish – is absolutely packed. Good luck finding a taxi!
Even though drinking is undoubtedly the most popular activity on St. Patrick’s Day, this post is about my favorite activity all-year round – making and eating delicious gluten free food. Here is a compilation of gluten free St. Patty’s Day recipes from some of my favorite bloggers:
Starters and Soups
Colcannon – Classic Irish potato dish
What’s your favorite St. Patrick’s Day recipe to indulge in? Mine has always personally been the Irish Soda Bread – can’t go wrong with that!
