Picking out delicious snacks to bring to work is one part of my morning routine that I always look forward to. I love sharing gluten free snacks with co-workers and having them be shocked that they actually taste good. (“This doesn’t even taste gluten-free!”) While some people still believe the notion that gluten free food is tasteless crap (excuse my language!), I enjoy proving everyone wrong about that on a regular basis.
I am not one of those people who can eat a small breakfast, wait patiently until lunchtime, eat a regular lunch, and not eat anything until dinner. I need snacks to hold me over in between meals, and I need lots of them.
Here are some of my favorite gluten free snacks to bring to work. All of these are perfect for school lunches as well, if you have kids in school or are school-age yourself. I usually buy sandwich-size baggies and fill them up on Sunday nights with my snacks of choice, so that I can quickly grab a baggie or two in the morning and throw it in my bag.
Udi’s Gluten Free Soft Baked Cookies – Everyone’s favorite gluten free brand does it again with a fantastic cookie with great texture.
Kinnitoos Chocolate Sandwich Creme – Gluten-free “Oreos”
Pecan Nut Thins (Blue Diamond) – My go-to cracker to pair with cheese when going to a friend’s house.
Enjoy Life Double Chocolate Soft Baked Cookies – Free of the top 8 allergens, these cookies are super chewy and darn near impossible to stop eating!
Popchips Potato Chips – Healthier potato chips — great taste, lower calories
Wellaby’s Cheese Ups – Pro: Light, delicious cheese crackers. Con: I eat the whole bag in one sitting and feel like a slob.
Schar Cheese Bites – If you loved Cheez It as a kid, these will definitely be a favorite.
Van’s Say Cheese Crackers – Co-workers could not believe these cheesy crackers were gluten free!
Glutino Gluten Free Bagel Chips – Awesome with soft cheese and dipping in hummus.
Crunchmaster Gluten-Free Multigrain Crackers – Been around for years, and still one of my favorites.
Kinnikinnick Graham Crackers – S’mores!!!!
Mary’s Original Crackers – Healthy and addicting
Nabisco White Cheddar Rice Thins – Lots of flavor. You’ve probably figured out that, yes, I do love cheese.
MY FAVORITES: I really do think they are all delicious, but if I was forced to pick my two favorites I gotta go with the Schar Cheese Bites and the Crunchmaster Crackers. Both can be found in my lunchbox more than I care to admit!
Also, before you go “This dude must be a major fatty!” because of the lack of healthy snacks in here, I assure you I eat some healthy food. Some of my favorite healthy gluten free snacks include broccoli with a small amount of Ranch dressing, carrots and hummus, and apple slices with peanut butter. Those were too boring to include above, right?!
I am planning on updating this list on a regular basis, so feel free to bookmark and come back in the future. There are so many new gluten free snacks coming out that the list needs to be regularly updated in order for it to be relevant in the coming months and years. I can only imagine what this list would have looked like when I first went gluten free in 2010; were any of the snacks I listed even out then?!
